About Us

Our mission is to be your breath of fresh air.

We are IP operators on our clients’ frontlines using lean principles to provide elite and efficient IP services, teaching how to navigate IP, and communicating every step of the way.

Here are the design principles and ethos of our firm.

The Mertzlufft Law Way

We prioritize communication. To put our money where our mouth is, we do not charge for most phone calls or email responses.

We aim for elite. Work originating from Mertzlufft Law will be prepared as if it were for ourselves. We design processes to build quality into our products and services.

We teach. We abhor the opaqueness commonly associated with the legal system. We answer our client's questions completely and concisely, and we avoid legalese everywhere we can. We further share our knowledge and expertise the community needing access to the law we practice.

Lean Efficiency.

We practice lean efficiency. We don't waste our client's time or capital, and we don't waste our time or capital. We believe no process is etched in stone—we will always be open to enhancing and streamlining our processes in a spirit of continuous improvement.

We are a special operations firm. We aren't a general practice, nor do we try to be. We are focused on the niche of intellectual property, providing cunning legal services to our clients in that field.

We are on our client's front line. We recognize that IP is both an offensive and defensive tool. In that way, we will bring the full power of our processes and expertise to bear in furtherance of our clients' goals.

Our Services

We do IP. Globally.

We protect inventions using patents to obtain nationwide rights to prevent others from making, using, or selling a claimed invention.

We protect brands using trademarks to identify the source of goods or products.

Transactions & Portfolio Management

We establish and manage intellectual property portfolios, as well as facilitate sales, valuation, and licensing of intellectual property.

We enforce patents against infringers and we defend against allegations of infringement.
